Women on Skis - Trails
The Ottawa/Gatineau area is blessed with many kilometres of groomed ski trails. Many of the trails are free to use and others charge a fee.
There are other trails in the Greenbelt which are ungroomed. Also, there are trails outside the city area. Some are groomed, others are not.
Only groomed trails in Ottawa/Gatineau are listed below.
The following trails charge a fee:
- Gatineau Park $17-$22 general information trail maps trail conditions
NCC have a Georeferenced map of the park which can pinpoint your current position on its map when you are there (lost, injured, just curious). Download the app to your cell phone. If you are skiing there note the emergency phone - 613-239-5351. It is on the back of your pass.

The following trails do not charge trail fees but depend largely on donations. They are all multi-use trails. You will meet walkers, cyclists and snowshoers. Most are learning to respect the groomed tracks. Please support these community trails.

Ski Heritage East –
Along the Ottawa River East from the Museum of Aviation and Space (Aviation Parkway and Sir George-Etienne Cartier Parkway) to Petrie Island (Trim Rd) The trail follows the bank of Ottawa River, through adjacent woods with numerous loops and spur trails. Parking is off Sir George Cartier Parkway - P6, P7, P27, N end of Blair Road,

Green’s Creek (Hornet’s Nest) – 4.1 km groomed
Mer Bleu – 20.5 km – groomed from trailhead P20 on Anderson Rd
Pine Grove Forest – 18 km – 6.4 groomed
Rideau Winter Trail –
east side of Rideau River from Donald St. to Bank Street (working toward Vincent Massey in future). Also has loops and spur trails, one with a significant hill.
Kichi Sibi Winter Trail (formerly SJAM) -
along the Ottawa River from the War Museum to Westboro Beach with several loops and spur trails. Parking near Champlain Bridge, Remmic Rapids, War Museum and accessible by O Train.
Britannia Winter Trail –
Centered in Britania Park, the trail extends east to the Deschenes Rapids parking lot and west through Andrew Hayden Park plus several loops. It links up with Ottawa West Winter Trail. Parking is best at Britannia Park.
Ottawa West Winter Trial –
groomed by Kanata Nordic from Moodie Dr. to March Rd. in Kanata and back up to NCC P3 on Corkstown Road, below the 417 and south as far as Robertson Road. Also from Carling Ave. at Rifle Road to the Ottawa River. Parking at Rifle Road at Carling, NCC P3 or roadside on Corkstown at Moodie or March.

Many of our leaders enjoy a day on our Community Trails. When the weather is looking good they may invite members to join them on one of the trails in short notice.
